The Danapur division of East Central Railway (ECR) stole the show at the 54th Railway Week function of ECR held at Sri Krishna Memorial Hall here on Friday. Altogether 45 staff, including railway officials, received awards on this occasion for their outstanding services to the railways. The Danapur division bagged 11 shields for its efficiency in various fields while it received a group award for its better performance in loading and unloading of freight. The division was awarded shields for efficiency in commercial section jointly with Sonepur and in punctuality with Dhanbad.
Speaking on the occasion, ECR GM Girish Bhatnagar said the zone has registered a record earning in every field, particularly in freight loading and earning from passengers. ECR registered an earning of Rs 1132.55 crore from passengers and Rs 4278.24 crore from freight loading alone, he added.
Besides, ECR has improved a lot in the sphere of railway safety measures too. As many as 1.10 lakh people were arrested for illegal travelling during the last fiscal year yielding about Rs 2.5 crore to the railways, he said.
Lauding the role of railway employees for their full cooperation and dedication to duty, the GM said ECR could make all-round development by virtue of their sustained hard labour. The recently inaugurated super-speciality hospital of ECR at the Karbigahiya end in Patna has proved to be a boon for railway employees, he said adding health care has always been the top priority of the zone for each category of employees.
Dhanbad and Mughalsarai divisions were jointly given overall performance efficiency shield while cleanliness awards were given to Dhanbad and Hajipur for keeping major stations clean. However, Karisath of Danapur division bagged the best maintained station among small stations. ECR CPRO A K Chandra also spoke on the occasion.
